As the Milling and Rheology Technologist (m/f/d), you will be part of the research and development team that focuses on the quality and functionality of flour and dough. You will apply your expertise in cereal chemistry, milling technology, and dough rheology to optimize the performance of our products and processes. You will also collaborate with other scientists, engineers, and customers to provide technical support and innovative solutions. In addition, you will be responsible for leading, managing, and mentoring a team of rheology specialists. As enzymes are the key to our business, a profound knowledge of enzymes related to flour and baking is essential.
Milling and Rheology Technologist (m/f/d)
Tasks
- Oversee the milling and flour analysis department, aligning activities with R&D and company goals
- Conduct grain and flour analyses and provide recommendations for flour improvers
- Serve as the expert contact for clients on grain milling technology and flour quality issues
- Design and perform milling trials tailored to client needs
- Develop new flour treatment formulations using various ingredients
- Write clear and concise reports and presentations
- Review scientific literature to propose solutions
- Present findings to sales, business development, and at conferences
- Provide technical support to customers, with or without a sales rep
- Collaborate with the sales team on customer projects
Your Profile
- Professional training as a miller or/and a Master’s degree in food technology, cereal science, or milling technology
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the milling industry
- Understanding of grain/flour qualities and their impact on processing and end product quality
- Familiarity with technical challenges in mills
- Ability to design and conduct milling trials
- Deep knowledge of grain milling processes and technology
- Strong hands-on mentality
- Proficiency with rheological instruments (farinograph, extensograph, alveograph, texture analyzer)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with project management experience
- Highly motivated, creative, and self-directed
- Flexibility to travel and work in various environments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in English and basic German; additional languages are a plus
